Mañón, on the border between the provinces of Lugo and A Coruña, is a land of contrasts: the estuary and the high peaks of A Faladoira.

The landmark of the municipality is Bares. Bares is a seaport of exceptional archaeological importance, built over the remains of a Phoenician dike.

Estaca de bares is the northernmost point of the Iberian Peninsula, where the Cantabric Sea and the Atlantic Ocean meet. It is also one of the best spots for bird watching in all Europe.

The lighthouse of Estaca de Bares was not built following any particular style but still has its own charm thanks to the astonishing surroundings. Close to the lighthouse there is an old military construction which has been turned into a cosy hotel.

Interesting fact: in Mañón we can find the largest Camellia plantation of all Europe in the pazo of Torre de Lama. However, it is privately owned and cannot be visited.
