Active coastline
The coastline of Ferrolterra – Rías Altas has a lot to offer. You can walk the beautiful beaches, discover authentic natural paradises and practice several sea and river water-sports.
Of these, surfing is the king. There are many beautiful beaches where you can surf all year round. This is the ideal destination for professionals and amateurs from all over the world. Big waves and well-preserved sandy areas are the key. Some of the most renowned beaches are: Estaca de Bares (Mañón), Picón, San Antón (Ortigueira), Campelo, A Frouxeira and Pantín (Valdoviño), as well as Doniños and San Xurxo (Ferrol).
The quiet beaches of the estuary of Ares and Ferrol, such as the sandy beaches in Cabanas, Ares and Pontedeume, are ideal for windsurfing, kitesurfing, sailing or kayaking.
For those who prefer to be under the water, scuba-diving is available in most of the municipalities. From north to south, there are up to 15 diving spots, both in the estuary and in the open sea.
Though not a sport water, golf can also be played along the coastline. For those of you who prefer this more relaxing activity, the golf course in Narón is your perfect destination.
