AS PONTES DE GARCÍA RODRÍGUEZ
The main features of this municipality are industrial tourism, ethnography and nature. In the so-called “town of the hundred rivers” there are eight medieval and Roman bridges.
The industrial landscape is dominated by power station towers and the highest chimney in Europe. The power station worked with lignite from the mine that was later closed and turned into a lake. The surroundings were redeveloped and turned into a natural environment of great value.
Another area of ecological interest in this municipality is the lake of As Pontes, with a beach and two islands, a real wildlife refuge for birds. In Fragas do Eume and the mountain area of Forgoselo there are five signposted routes that are worth discovering.
If you feel like some cultural activity, in As Pontes you will find the Ethnographic Museum in the school of Monte Caxado and the Casa do Mel in Goente, a honey museum right at the entrance of the Natural Park.
